Earth Gives

About Earth Gives Day

Compounding interest in climate action.

Earth Gives Day was developed to serve as a "one-stop" platform to catalyze greater impact by and through 501c3 environmental, climate, and climate justice organizations that day in and day out do critical work in your small town, your urban core, out on the lakes and oceans, among the rolling grasslands, and in your favorite national park. These organizations are working on the most consequential issue facing humanity, and yet many do so with little attention and funding.

Only 2% of all giving goes to environmental organizations.

It's just not enough and LATER IS TOO LATE. We invite you to become an "Earth Giver" and shift some of your generosity and engagement toward the committed efforts of these small teams, volunteers groups, scientists, and advocates. Earth Gives, also a 501c3 organization, is tapping into the successes of giving days, which have rallied communities to drive attention, resources, and needed support towards a variety of nonprofit organizations.

Earth Gives Day is the first single issue nationwide giving day. Kicking off with early giving on Friday, September 5, Earth Gives Day culminates on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

GivingTuesday welcomed Earth Gives as part of generosity movements. #GivingTuesday is November 25, 2025.

After a part-time start and building everything from the ground up, Earth Gives continues to utilize the giving day as a way to invite people into the critical work led by diverse mission-driven organizations. Our work includes making nonprofits aware of this opportunity and build their trust to co-create this important "earth giver" ecosystem. The giving day initiative is a place to inspire critical investments in the work of many 501c3s and allow their work to scale. Giving Days are time-constrained, highly publicized, and highly inspired initiatives. They rely on nonprofits to share their profiles on the platform and invite their communities to give. Successful giving days also rely on partners and sponsors to spread the word. Together, more is possible!

We invite you to help shape this initiative as a community-building effort. How can we invite every person to identify as an "earth giver" in all the ways possible? Let's lead with heart while also embracing our abilities to be "roll up our sleeves" change-makers, boundary breakers, adventurers, science lovers and fans of facts.

  • We are nonprofit founders and executives. We care about ESGs and SDGs and even pushing beyond currently established frames.
  • We have run marketing and PR campaigns, and we have raised money and secured investments.
  • We've pushed corporate entities to lead on sustainability with proven results and we've launched giving day campaigns.
  • We love statistics and know the value of dollars driven into local organizations with hiking boots on the ground.
  • We've scaled high peaks, and snorkeled oceans blue.
  • We've tilled the soil, studied ecosystem collapse, and cleaned plastic and trash out of waterways.
  • We've gone to court because the bad guy was trying to take our land or pollute our streams.
  • We've protested to keep pipelines from crossing our sacred ground, and marched to bring attention to the policies that are harming our kids and compromising our futures.
  • We are moms, dads, sisters and brothers, daughters and sons, and citizens of this one special place we called earth.
  • We are you and me, he and she, they, them and us.
  • We are human residents of our earth, and we seek to co-exist with the living ecosystems we need to save.

Help us shape the eco commons.

Start by inviting your circle, your community, and your people to welcome other change makers who need a place to start. All are welcome here.

We have taken so much from the earth; now we seek to be Earth Givers.
