Eligibility & Registration

Registration is a two-step process and takes as little as 15 minutes. 


Environmental, climate and justice nonprofits with a presence in the U.S. can apply to participate in this nationwide giving initiative to boost individual giving and engagement with and through your organization. See the Earth Gives Terms of Service Agreement.

 

Earth Gives is a 501c3. To offset a bit of expenses in service to the bigger ecosystem, a modest annual registration fee is required to participate.

Nonprofits participating in Earth Gives Day are automatically eligible to accept donations during GivingTuesday!

New Organizations

Login, Apply as a new organization and complete the eligibility form.

If eligible, you'll receive an email invitation to complete your registration.


Have the following handy: 

  • Organization's logo
  • Organization's Mission Statement 
  • Organization's About Us
  • Organization's 501c3 eligibility letter or Fiscal Sponsor letter


Submit your profile for review! Once eligible, complete registration with bank information and registration fee. Maximize your profile and submit for final approval. (You are welcome to return to update and add more content, photos, videos to your profile. As soon as your profile is live, supporters can create peer-to-peer fundraisers.)

Returning Organizations

Login, complete registration and maximize your public profile! The information from your eligiblity form and/or the previous years registration will be prefilled so this will only take a few minutes.


Have the following handy:

  • Photos, events, and volunteer needs
  • Banking details for donation disbursement via direct deposit (if they changed)
  • A payment method for the registration fee


Please note: mission focus areas have been updated. Choose the one that best fits your work. Once approved, your organization will appear in search results on EarthGives.org. Review your profile so that it relates to a broader giving audience, even if you do work locally. Start recruiting peer-to-peer supporters. Add events and volunteer opportunities if relevant.

Appeal to people through love and community. Remember that some give back to where they came from. Some give becasue others are. Some give because you tell them what you are making possible.


A successful giving day depends on you, your team (everyone is a fund raiser and freind raiser), your friends, your partners, those impacted by what you do, and your families. Most don't give because they are not asked. So invite. Inspire. Integrate your community to reach out to their community. 


Thank donors as they give and inspire others to join them! Celebrate with your donors and supporters by sending them a special thank you. Phone calls are awesome. Hhandwritten notes can be very meaningful. Make it personal no matter the amount given or volunteer hours committed.

  • Why should my nonprofit participate?

    This Earth Gives platform allows climate-specific nonprofits an opportunity to come together as a community and invite investment, volunteer sign ups, showcase actionable insights and expand your own community of "earth givers." 


    Nonprofits can consider Earth Gives as another component of their year long giving strategy. Like any tool, it's as effective as you want to make it. A nonprofit can invest as little or as much time, energy, and resources in promoting the 30-day initiative to your  supporters and potential supporters . Utilizing the peer-to-peer offerings makes it easy to expand your reach. 


    Nonprofits are also eligible to receive cash incentive prizes during Earth Gives Day. 


    Communities that have held Giving Days in prior years report a significant percentage of new donors based on community awareness and social media influence. It takes a united effort to raise change in the fight on climate change.

  • Is there a fee to participate?

    Yes, To support Earth Gives' work as a nonprofit and the investment it makes in this platform and initiative, we chargea a nominal yearly registration fee to particiate.


    Registration fees are based on budget size: 

    • $50 for groups below $400,000
    • $90 for groups $400,000 - $1 Million
    • $150 for groups over $1 Million

  • When is the deadline for nonprofits to participate?

    Nonprofits must register by midnight, August 22 to participate in Earth Gives Day. Giving kicks off September 5 and culminates on October 7. You are also eligible to raise money for  GivingTuesday on December 2, 2025 and through the end of the year. 


    Registration for Earth Gives Day is welcome through late spring and through the summer. The sooner you can sign up, the more time you have to recruit peer-to-peer fundraisers. Let's rally the country and beyond to support your climate, climate justice and environmental work. 

  • Will organizations receive donor & volunteer information?

    Yes!


    Participating nonprofits have access to donor and volunteer information within their Earth Gives nonprofit portal. 


    This information includes a list of donations with donor contact info, in honor or memory of notes, supporting fundraisers, volunteer interests and more!

  • When will organizations receive donation checks?

    Please review the Terms of Service. 

    The first Earth Gives Day donation distribution will be completed by October 27. The final Earth Gives Day distribution will be by November 20. This will include any late donations, Green Them All funds, Prize Funds and matches received through Earth Gives Day.
